The Polar Circus

Rene and I managed to climb Polar Circus on Thursday. Well almost, we backed off 15m from the top on account of being tired and the ice being wetter than spring break 1988. Having been in skiing mode all winter, It was really nice to head out and do one last big route before the end of the season. I will post more pictures from Rene's camera soon....... whhhhoooaaaaaaa yeah!

Ice climbing sans "dragonnes"

Two days ago at Johnstone canyon I came to the realization that I no longer like my leashes. I am not really trying to say either way which is better, only to ponder the thought that after the last few years going back and forth I have decided that I really do prefer climbing without the "dragonnes". What does this mean? Well, it doesnt bother me if takes me three times as long to climb riptide or ice porn. With the leash, I am bound to the tool like atlas and the world craving the freedom of Zorba the greek, who may dance around un-hindered with a large smile...

Burstall Pass

So last week I managed somehow to spend a day touring with three lovely ladies; Michelle, Jackie and Laura. The girls ripped it up! whhoooaa mama

Tonquin valley cont....

Here are a few more shots of the skiing around the Tonquin valley. There are great turns to be had as well but unfortunately the lighting was bad that day so we didnt snap any film...better than a kick in the pants.

Tonquin valley and parkway luau

Last week Michelle and I got back from our "Rockies Tour". We really did have a great time logging two days ice climbing, one day at Kicking Horse and 5 days in the Tonquin valley near jasper. Surely being the highlight for both of us, we were alone at the hut and were able to ski pretty much everyday. On our last day, we skiied the 28 km out to the road where we had the only mediocre moments of our trip, the food at the "Jasper brew house".....Later, Coco's cafe on Patricia street more than made up for it with their dark roast coffee and stellar scones....
